Claude E. Matie
Claude E. Matié, an outstanding artist and painter, was born on October 6, 1947 in Grudziadz, Poland. His thorough artistic education began at the Art High School in Bydgoszcz and continued at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. Matié's paintings are impressive explosions of color that transport the viewer into subjective dream worlds full of beauty and colorful luminosity.
Matié's expressive art is characterized by a free development of colors and a dynamic painting style, whereby he consciously breaks away from academic painting traditions. With a light touch, he creates expressive color compositions from dancing brushstrokes, which develop into bright flower pictures or abstract compositions without fixed contours and forms. Some of his works also show pop art-like approaches.
In his abstract works, Matié uses a rich palette of pure colors, which he mixes powerfully and arranges in exciting contrasts. His luminous images radiate joie de vivre and optimism and are reminiscent of man's connection with the universe. The unconscious and irrational are highlighted in Matié's abstract works as the driving creative force, revealing hidden inner worlds and transcendent elements.
The dynamic color constellations in Matié's paintings often evoke associations with pristine landscapes or fantastic dream realities. His works of art are not only fascinating to look at, but also convey a refined, sensual joy of life.
